Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a cleaner, high-performance jet fuel alternative created from renewable sources like used cooking oil, agricultural waste, and animal fats – chemically identical to Jet A.
Unlike traditional fossil fuels, SAF is designed to "close the loop" on carbon emissions. This means that while SAF combustion still releases CO2, the renewable feedstocks used to create it have already absorbed a significant amount of CO2 from the atmosphere during their growth, leading to a substantial net reduction in lifecycle carbon emissions.
