October 10, 2024
We all know everything is bigger in Texas, and this October in Austin, TX is proving to be no different.
Texas knows how to handle big events, but the influx of traffic for the Formula 1 Austin Grand Prix and the Texas vs. Georgia college football game is an added lift for already-packed Austin traffic.
Whether your passengers are gearing up for races at the Circuit of the Americas track or cheering for the first-ever regular season Texas vs. Georgia game, we have all the information your crew needs for a great Signature Air Austin experience.
The F1 Austin event will be action-packed and busy from 10/18 - 10/20 at Circuit of the Americas, while the Texas vs. Georgia game is taking place August 19th in the Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium.
Signature’s AUS private aviation terminal has years of experience managing traffic for F1 and other high-profile events, and this weekend will be no different.
Ahead of these high-traffic events, additional requirements have been put in place for Austin, TX private jet crews to ensure a smooth and secure flight experience for all passengers and flight crews.
The busiest airports for the F1 weekend will be the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Austin Executive Airport. While both of these airports provide private jet amenities, Signature recommends AUS as our top choice. The Signature terminal at AUS can take advantage of the space and amenities that come with a larger airport while also maintaining our own state-of-the-art terminal for top-tier service, 24/7.
Conversely, Austin Executive Airport is situated further away from both event venues and lacks the added benefit of slot reservations to ensure well-managed traffic and a smoother departure experience.
The time it takes to get from the Austin Airport to COTA and Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium is roughly 20 minutes, which is perfect for easy access to each event, no matter your timeline or extenuating circumstances.
With that being said, high traffic at AUS is expected, and it is imperative to communicate arrival and departure times with FBO staff to ensure all details are shared across necessary channels.
Traffic issues are mitigated when proactive communication and extra-vigilant coordination are prioritized. Signature’s management team is focused on communication with your flight crew to ensure a parking plan is in place. One element of this plan is a shared spreadsheet that documents arrivals and departures down to the minute. We also have a ramp plan for parking and will be communicating closely with all customers to ensure updates are accounted for.
Signature Austin will be using additional space as “overflow parking” capable of accommodating 2-3 Superheavy Business Jets. Apart from this additional space, we can typically manage a mix of 75 aircraft.
Signature is equipped to provide the needed fueling for your asset, but please prepare for the aircraft to be relocated shortly after passengers disembark. In order to receive adequate fueling and mitigate delays, schedule services prior to your departure day.
Events of this scale require coordination and collaboration between everyone involved. For general airspace coordination, Signature Austin is in close communication with Airport authorities and other local FBOs.
For guest and crew communication, Signature Austin will rely on email coordination and a shared planning schedule that every crew will have access to, to ensure the most up-to-date information is available at all times.
If you’re searching for hotels close to COTA in Austin, Signature is happy to offer recommendations based on trusted hotels we partner with in the Austin area.
Safety is our top priority at Signature, and that is never more important than during high-profile and high-traffic events.
We take safety and security seriously by supplementing our Signature Austin staff with additional qualified team members from across the Signature network. Every visiting team member is briefed with information critical to the success of the event, so that when your crew arrives, the Signature team is ready to get to work.
We know your guests will be eager to head out to their respective events when they land at AUS, but Signature Austin is happy and prepared to provide amenities including snacks, bottled drinks, and a conference room.
Whatever brings your crew to Austin, we hope your visit to the great state of Texas is smooth and hospitable. See you in October!
