Patra (often written as Patras), a seaside capital town, is the third largest town of Greece, located in northern Peloponnese. It is most known for its port, which connects Greece with Italy, the church of St. Andrew, built in the Byzantine style, the famous Carnival Festival, the medieval castle of Patra, and an active nightlife. The Patras Araxos Airport (GPA) is located 18 km east of Araxos city center and 45 km from Patras city center. It also serves as a combined civilian and military airport.
