Kalamata is a coastal port town in the region of Messenia in the southwest Peloponnese, about 240 km from Athens. It is known for beautiful beaches, acres of olive trees, the green Taygetos mountain range, and a long seafront lined with cafes and tavernas. The Kalamata Airport (KLX) is located 8 km north west of town, on the south western coast.
