Santorini (also known as Thira) is one of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. It is called the precious gem of the Aegean. It is known for multi-colored cliffs, rugged landscapes, whitewashed buildings, volcanic sand beaches, and an underwater caldera (crater). The Santorini Airport (JTR) is located 6 km from the capital city, Kira, in the southeastern part of the island, close to Kamari village. It is the largest airport in the south Aegean Sea and also serves as a military aircraft base.
